Issue with Control Summary
– Micropay Professional Only
Issue
After doing a tax credit import the audit
balances may show a figure of –0.01c. This is due to the system deducting the
Gross Pay This Employment figures from the Gross Pay to Date figures, but these
figures aren’t matching resulting in values of –0.01c for some
employees.
Workaround
You will need to
build a report in the standard report writer, located in Reports –
Report Writer, referencing the employee number, Gross pay this
employment, Tax paid this employment, Gross Pay this year, Tax paid this year.
These fields can be found using the Data Files – Employee File. Compare the Gross Pay this Employment and Gross Pay this
Year and the Tax paid this employment and Tax paid this year and you will be
able to see from this report which employees have negative values. You will need
to go into each of these employee details and click save. The correct values
will now show on the control summary.
Incorrect PRSI Code – How
to Amend
If a pay period has been processed without the
budget changes being made, the payroll may have been processed with the
incorrect PRSI class. As a result, some employee's and employers may have paid
too much PRSI or they may have paid too little PRSI. As PRSI is not cumulative,
it will not be backdated once the budget changes have been run so a manual
adjustment will have to be made. Please click on the link below for information
on how to make amendments where the incorrect PRSI class was
used:

Reinstating a Leaver
For various reasons, an employee who has left may decide to return your
company. There are a couple of scenarios that can arise when this happens. For
more information on how to re-instate a leaver, please click on the relevant

Tax Credit
Import
Over the course of the year end, you may receive an
email from the Revenue Online Service (ROS) advising you that there are tax
credits (P2C’s) available to download. These need to be imported into your
payroll system. To import these tax credits you will firstly need to export them
from ROS, you will need to save the and then import it.
If you have more than one company with the same tax registration number, you will need to perform the import on all companies. For instructions on how to import tax credits into Quickpay and Micropay Professional please click on the links below.

Useful Tips
Quickpay – Delete Registry Entries
It is
common for customers to report printing problems in Quickpay. Sometimes, this
can be as a result of a new printer being installed or often as a result of the
program itself being reinstalled. If reports are not printing, try going to Miscellaneous, Delete Registry
Entries, which refreshes the printer settings. Make sure that the
appropriate printing mode is selected for your printer, by going to Miscellaneous and Preferences. Choose GDI for Laser/DeskJet/Inkjet
printers and Direct Print for Dot Matrix printers.
Micropay Professional – Delete an
Employee
To delete an employee from one of your companies, you will
need to fax/email Sage Technical Support, requesting the daily deletion
code. Thereafter, a member of the Support Team will contact you with
this code. Before deleting employees from your company, you must ensure you have
taken a backup and that you have moved forward to Start of Period. To perform
the procedure, login as ADMIN & PASS, go to Advanced, and select Delete
Employees. You simply have to key in the code provided and select the employees
you wish to delete.
NOTE: Employees paid in the current tax year must not be
deleted from your payroll, unless they are being moved to a different pay
frequency within the same company (e.g., from weekly to monthly).
Submit your requests for
enhancements!
We’re currently
working on improvements for both Quickpay and Micropay Professional’s Summer
2007 releases. If there are improvements you would like to see made to the
software, now is the time to submit your ideas. While we are unable to guarantee
that the changes will be made, each idea will be considered. Submit
your ideas here.

Sage Payroll Policy on Dot Matrix Narrow
Carriage Printers
The use of narrow carriage Dot Matrix
printers is not supported with Sage Micropay Professional or Quickpay. Some
payroll reports are very wide and require the capacity of wide-carriage
printers. Narrow-carriage Dot Matrix printers at times have difficulty printing
reports in a Windows environment due to font, driver and speed limitations.
Windows 95, Windows 98 and Windows
ME
As part of their Lifecycle Policy, Microsoft announced that
they were ending extended Support for Windows 98, Windows 98 Second Edition, and
Windows ME. As part of this they retired public and technical support, including
security updates, by 11th July 2006. Microsoft are strongly advising customers
to upgrade to Windows 2000 or Windows XP, as these are the operating systems
that will continue to be supported going forward. For more information on this,
