Changes to P45 Setup
The Revenue have changed the way that P45 information should be entered. When an employee starts with your company the only information that should be entered from the P45 is the standard rate cut off and the tax credits. The previous gross pay and tax paid should not be entered until you receive the new standard rate cut off and tax credits from the Revenue via ROS or a Manual Tax Certificate
When an employee does not have enough nett pay to cover the Tax and PRSI liability from a BIK, legislation stipulates that the employer must pay the PAYE and PRSI on their behalf. This shortfall is treated as a loan to the employee, which can be recouped in later pay periods. The outstanding amount of this loan amount that has not been recouped by the employer by March 31st of the following tax year is to be treated as BIK. The BIK Transfer facility enables you to quickly transfer the remaining loan balance to a BIK payment after March 31st. Reconciling Brought Forward and Carried Forward Balances on the Control Summary
On the Control Summary Report the carried forward figures in the previous period should match the brought forward figures on the current period. If this is not the case it can be because as a result of a manual adjustment was done or P45 details have been entered for new employees. For a more detailes on reconciling carried forward/brought forward figures, please click on the relevant link below:

Mid Year Setup
It is
always preferable to setup your Payroll for the first time at the start of the
new tax year. However, in many cases this is not possible, as the payroll may
have been processed manually or using another computerized payroll
product. There are two methods of transferring payroll details during the
tax year.
Method 1
- Start from period 1 and process all of the pay periods individually.
Method 2
- To input the employees’ cumulative figures in one lump sum into employee details. This procedure is referred to as a Mid Year Set up. Please click on the link below for instructions on how to perform a Mid Year Set up.

Useful Tips
Quickpay – How to process Automatic Timesheets
In Quickpay there is a quick and easy way to automatically save your employees' timesheets without going into the Timesheet Entry screen. This function is particularly beneficial when your employees' pay does not change from period to period. To process Automatic Timesheets go to the Processing menu at the top of the screen and select Automatic Timesheets. This will save all employees at once thus saving you time.

Sage Payroll Policy on Dot Matrix Narrow Carriage Printers
The use of narrow carriage Dot Matrix printers is not supported with
Sage Micropay Professional or Quickpay. Some payroll reports are very wide and
require the capacity of wide-carriage printers. Narrow-carriage Dot Matrix
printers at times have difficulty printing reports in a Windows environment due
to font, driver and speed limitations.
Windows 95, Windows 98 and Windows ME
As part of
their Lifecycle Policy, Microsoft announced that they were ending extended
Support for Windows 98, Windows 98 Second Edition, and Windows ME. As part of
this they retired public and technical support, including security updates, by
11th July 2006. Microsoft are strongly advising customers to upgrade to Windows
2000 or Windows XP, as these are the operating systems that will continue to be
supported going forward. For more information on this, please click on the
