Mick’s Garage - Powering an e-retailing
Success Story with Sage Instant Accounts

Mick’s Garage was founded
by brothers Ciaran and Michael Crean and has rapidly grown from its
inception in 2004 to become Ireland’s most successful online
retailer of over 45,000 car parts and related products within 40
different major product lines.
Initially, Mick’s Garage company managers did their accounts
manually but the company’s success soon demanded a more
sophisticated solution.
‘The company was attracting hundreds of
customers, resulting in thousands of transactions, and the volume
of business quickly exceeded our manual accounting system,’ Ciaran
explains.
Having looked at the options, Ciaran
approached Sage and subsequently implemented Sage Instant Accounts
- the proven, easy to use, low cost accounting software solution.
Perfect for start-up companies, it does not require any accounting
experience.
The Solution: Sage Instant
‘Navigation of Sage Instant is simple and easy
to understand. Inputting creditors and customer data is
straightforward, and reconciliation of accounts takes little time,’
states Ciaran.
Sage Instant’s automatic VAT reconciliation
capability helps us to increase efficiency and productivity by
taking the pain and error out of our old manual VAT process, while
saving us time. In addition, Sage Instant’s accurate VAT
calculation ensures that we’re only paying the Revenue exactly what
we owe them.’
Growing with Sage
Since doing this case study, Mick’s Garage.ie
was rolled out into the UK and Europe. They chose the
integrated Sage 50 accounting platform to meet the company’s
changing and expanding accounting and management reporting
requirements.
‘At Mick's Garage we know that it’s all about
adding value for our many customers,’ Ciaran states. ‘Product,
pricing and service are fundamental to our success.
‘Sage would seem to have a similar philosophy.
I know that they will continue to partner with us as we continually
grow our business,’ concludes Ciaran.
